Soul Care Groups provide an intentional, compassionate environment for people to seek healing from sin or all manner of suffering.
In these groups, men and women share their struggles with each other and with God, turning to Christ for strength and healing, which is found through His Spirit and by His Word.
Soul Care Groups are topic-specific; some are coed and others are gender-specific.
Soul Care Groups are different from Connection Groups (CGs) and
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) in that they meet for a specified number of weeks, and they intentionally cover one topic for the duration of the group.
Beginning Thursday, August 28, Soul Care Groups will meet weekly from 6:30-8:30pm in various rooms on Highland’s campus. Each week will start in the Chapel Sanctuary where participants will hear testimonies and worship together before being dismissed to their individual groups.
(Parents of Children with Special Needs begins on Wednesday, September 10 from 6:30 to 8pm)
The cost for materials is based on the class attended. Scholarships are available based on need.
Childcare will be available for children ages birth to 5th grade. For those who indicate in this registration that they will be needing childcare, a separate childcare registration link will be sent out weekly to register them. Childcare will cost $5 a child with a $15 max per family each week they are registered.
(Parents of Children with Special Needs childcare will be available through Kids Foundation & Shine Ministry. They will only need to be registered once a semester. A Kids Foundation registration link will be sent to those who register for this class when it opens.)
GROUPS:
re:generation Men: Ben Calkins; JP Pizzio
re:generation Women: Peggy Lively; Katie Pizzio; Wren Pauley
re:generation walks participants through the 12 steps of biblical healing in the context of authentic community. There is no quick fix for life's brokenness. Instead, through consistent, committed discipleship based on God's Word, countless people have uncovered and found freedom from struggles like substance abuse, codependency, pornography, eating disorders, pride, depression, fear, control, emotional/physical abuse, same-sex attraction, people-pleasing, anger, obsessive thoughts, and more.
Men's and Women's groups offered separately.
**Be aware that re:generation registrants will start with the groundwork class which costs $28. Once you complete that course, you will be moved to a STEPS group which will carry a fee of $50.**
**If you participated/completed in groundwork at another church but need to join a STEPS group here at Highland, please email

re|engage: Philip & Linda Jander; John & Tina Mathis
re|engage is discipleship-based enrichment for every marriage - the healthy, the struggling, and the broken. This ministry draws married couples to the church, giving them a safe place to move toward oneness through small groups, teaching, and stories of hope.
DivorceCare: Jana Miller; Susan Hanscheck
DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. At this 13-week, video-based support group program, you'll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making.
GriefShare: Susan Manning
A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you'll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what's "normal" in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you'll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability- and gain solid support each step of the way.
Freedom Fight Men: Ben Calkins; Jacob Lackey
Freedom Fight Women: Liz Painter
Freedom Fight addresses the root issues beneath sexual temptations and behaviors in order to seek restoration through the truth and hope of the Gospel.
Men's and Women's groups offered separately.
Parents of Children Struggling with Same Sex Attraction
and Gender Identity: Dale & Beth Smith
How do Christian parents use biblical truth to combat the lies of our current culture on these issues? How can we lovingly accept our children without approving of what they may be embracing? This group will provide a safe space for hurting parents who need hope, strength and wisdom as they navigate the challenges of honoring and obeying God first, while loving their children and leading them toward Christ.
Infertility/Miscarriage Support: Johannah Kettell; Amy Blake
This group provides support, intentional community, and encouragement for women walking through the grief and pain of infertility or miscarriages. Our desire is that women know the nearness of the Lord and experience His comfort and kindness in the midst of suffering.
Parents of Children with Special Needs: Jason & Rene Tilsley
This group meets to encourage and support parents in the challenges of parenting children with special needs. They will be encouraged by pointing them to the hope, strength and wisdom found in Christ, and will have the support of others to know that they are not alone.
This group will meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8pm in the Wellness Center: First Floor, Multi-Purpose Room A beginning September 10. Childcare with special needs buddies will be available through Kids Foundation & Shine Ministry.
They will only need to be registered once a semester. A
Kids Foundation registration link will be sent to those who register for this class when it opens.
